Holy Cross School uses the Omaha Archdiocesan Standards-based curriculum to drive and focus our instruction. This curriculum is based on the Nebraska State Standards. Our academic curriculum includes the core curricular areas of: religion, reading, language arts, handwriting, phonics, spelling, math, social studies, science. Additionally, we offer: Spanish, music, physical education, technology, art and library.
Religion is integrated throughout our entire curriculum.
Students participate in weekly Mass.
8th grade students are trained as Liturgy Leaders. These leaders help the younger students prepare class Masses.
*Sacramental preparation is provided for students and parents.
*Stations of the Cross and Reconciliation are included in the religious education of our students.
*Parish priests regularly visit the classrooms.
*Students have community prayer partners whom they communicate with several times each year.
*Students participate in community service.
The Discipline With Purpose (DWP) program is designed to help students of all ages evolve into compassionate young people. DWP best aligns with our mission because the program teaches children the skills they need to be self-disciplined just like they are taught the skills they need to be successful in any curricular area. DWP has identified fifteen skills that are essential life skills. They are taught at Holy Cross School in a deliberate fashion with age appropriate expectations.
