SAFE ENVIRONMENT training is required for

"all personnel of the archdiocese, i.e. priests, deacons, paid staff and volunteers who have regular contact with children and young people at the time they enter service in the name of the church."

(Archdiocese of Omaha, Child Protection policy 4a, p15).

Initial Certification

Initial Certification must be done by attending a class. Periodically, classes are held at Holy Cross. Contact the school (402-551-3773) or rectory(402-553-7500) office for information on upcoming classes.  You will be asked to register online prior to attending a class.  The registration link will provide instructions for you to create an account.  If you have any trouble with this process, please contact the school office.

Frequently Asked Question

I've been trained by another organization. Will that training satisfy the requirements of the archdiocese of Omaha?

The Archdiocese of Omaha will accept the safe environment training from certain other organizations, including other dioceses, Boys Scouts of America, Virtus, and Teammates as long as the following conditions are met:

  • The employee/volunteer has documentation of successfully completing the training.
  • This training is currently not expired.
  • The employee/volunteer agrees to fill out and submit the necessary Archdiocesan paperwork.
  • The employee/volunteer agrees to the archdiocesan background check.

Online Recertification

The Archdiocese offers a Safe Environment Online Recertification program. The training takes approximately 60 minutes to complete.
